Gloria In Londinium

From publisher, Hal Leonard

Composer, Kathleen Shanks, was commissioned to write an Olympic children's anthem for London 2012. The song has a children's choir singing out a call of welcome to the world to come to London for the games. The call is answered by children throughout the world. The song is without words, except for the universal language of Latin, invictus, invicta which musically resounds like the chimes of London's church bells and the sound of Bow Bells. The echo of the bells fade as the call goes out to the world to meet again in 2016. The Olympic Games were based in London's East End, within the sound of Bow Bells, an area which historically has always welcomed people from all over the world.

Gloria In Londinium was recorded at the Abbey Road Studios by the Capital Arts Children's Choir and a chorus of Opera Minor children with contributions from children's choirs from around the world. Wash Media's film 'Gloria In Londinium', featuring the UK and international children's choirs, was broadcast world-wide throughout the Olympic Games 2012.

In 2014 Gloria In Londinium was arranged for SSATB choir to celebrate Prince Harry's Invictus Games 2014. It features on the CD Heroes 2.
